About Ashfield

Ashfield is situated in Exmouth, Devon. The name ‘Exmouth’ derives from its being at the mouth of the River Exe. It was not until the 13th century that it began to develop in a recognizable way. Morin Uppehille owned the land and granted it to John the miller, who built a windmill, which used the prevailing southwest winds. The windmill, together with the ferry dock and a small scattering of farm buildings, began to develop into the early stages of a town. The town really began to establish itself during the 18th century. Regarded as the oldest holiday resort in Devon, visitors were attracted by the views and medicinal salt waters. Today, Exmouth has all the facilities one could require, ranging from shops to a library, churches, banks and good medical services. The city of Exeter, with its mainline railway, is only a few miles away and the town is close to the M5 motorway.

Facilities at Ashfield

Ashfield provides a variety of care services and is registered for elderly and dementia care. Many rooms are en suite and have central heating, a nurse call alarm, television point and are fully furnished. Wifi access can be provided on request. We will be happy to adapt if you wish to bring your own furniture or change the decoration of the room – just ask. The communal rooms include a large lounge, a smaller ‘quiet lounge’ and a dining room. A beautiful Mediterranean style courtyard provides an attractive centre piece for the home, but Ashfield’s most important feature is its happy, relaxed atmosphere!
