About Cambrian Lodge

Portishead, in North Somerset, dates back to Roman times. Its name derives from the “port at the head of the river”. The town was built on the mouth of a small tributary; indeed, the High Street once met the water at the top of the river. Ironrings, evidence of where old fishing boats used to moor, can still be seen today on the street’s stone walls. The dominant architecture is early Victorian with many buildings maintaining their original features. Portishead has all the facilities one could require, ranging from shops to a library, churches, banks and good medical services. There are many other attractions, such as the well known Rose Gardens, a beautiful lake and the sea front. Portishead has good access to the M5 and M4 motorways and is close to the major city of Bristol, with all of its amenities.
