About Sunningdale
Sunningdale House is in Perranporth, Cornwall. The town was famous for the old oratory of St Piran, an important early Celtic monastery which became one of the foremost places of pilgrimage in mediaeval Cornwall (the shrine contained the relics of St Piran along with the teeth of St Brendan and St Martin), but became overwhelmed by sand sometime before 1500. Following its excavation in the last century, it had to be reburied in 1981 to protect the structure and the site is now marked by a memorial stone. As well as the beauty of the sea, the beach and an attractive park with a pond. Perranporth offers a good road link, being close to the A30. It has a wide range of shops and facilities and is also close to the city of Truro, with all of the amenities that has to offer.
